Danvers 2 - Pentucket 1

The Falcons made their first ever visit to Pentucket for a tilt with the Panthers. The Falcons were looking

to carry the momentum from their first win of the season versus Winthrop while also looking to avenge

last years defeat at the hands of the hosts.

The first half was played very evenly with the possession even with a slight edge toward the visiting

Falcons. The Falcons controlled the middle of the pitch for long spells using their hustle to win much of

the 50/50 opportunities. However, it would be the home side who would strike first halfway thru the

half, capitalizing on a turnover in midfield and a defensive breakdown, resulting in a breakaway which

slipped inside the far post. From there the Falcons would take control of the remainder of the half again

controlling possession and limiting the Panthers opportunities. The Falcons would create several chances

of their own including two in tight that were saved by the Panther’s keeper. The game would go to

halftime in the home teams’ favor 1-0.

The second half continued with the Falcons with much of the ball again with hustle and positioning

winning many of the second ball opportunities and switching the point of attack thru midfield. The

Falcons would eventually find the back of the net in the form of sophomore Luca D’Angelo who found

the upper 90 from just outside the 18-yard line for his first career varsity goal. The Falcons continued the

momentum and eventually would get the game winner with junior Nate Flint heading one home in a

scramble out front for his second goal of the season. The Falcons would hold on thwarting a couple late

corner from the hosts with a final of 2-1.

The Falcons received great contributions in midfield from Flint and sophomore Drew Godfried as well as

junior captain Keegan Winterton.
