Danvers 1 - Winthrop 0
The Falcons hosted the much-improved Vikings on Youth Soccer Day at Dr. Deering Stadium. The annual
event brought 3rd graders from Danvers Youth Soccer to the stadium for introductions and a half time
game. The Falcons were looking to get in the win column for the first time this fall.

Much of the first half was played in the Danvers end with the visitors holding an advantage in possession
and chances on the Falcons frame. The Falcons would only register a single shot on goal in the first
frame. As it has so far in the young season the Falcon defense would withstand the pressure and the
game would go to the half tied 0-0.

The second half would quickly provide the first, as it turns out, only goal of the game. Junior Nate Flint
battled thru a pile of players in front to push the ball across the goal line in the 44th minute for his first
goal of the season. The remainder of the game would see the Vikings again gain the advantage in
possession outshooting the Falcons 9-3 including hitting the woodwork immediately following the
Falcons goal and holding an advantage in corners 4-0. The game would turn physical with 15 fouls
whistled and several yellow cards being issued. In the end the Falcons would record their first win of the
season.
