Danvers 2 - Marblehead 2

The Falcons hosted the Magicians at a rain-soaked Morse field on Wednesday evening. With both teams

still looking to break into the win column both teams came out cautiously with the Magicians controlling

the possession. That possession would lead to a corner midway thru the first half which the Magicians

converted off a deflection in front of goal to take a 1-0 lead on the hosts.

The Magicians continued to win the possession battle and 50/50 opportunities, however in the 24th

minute the Falcons would convert on a set piece from about 30 yards out as sophomore Drew Godfried

redirected a perfect ball into the box to tie the game at 1-1. Only a few minutes later sophomore Luca

Tirella would take advantage with a quick solo counterattack against the high line of the Magicians

defense and aggressive keeper to give the Falcons a 2-1 lead which they would take into the half time

break. It was the first varsity goals for both Godfried and Tirella.

The Falcons were unable to keep the momentum from the first half as the Magicians came out strong in

the 2ndhalf and again controlled much of the possession with the 50/50 balls in the midfield heavily won

in their favor putting the Falcons defense under pressure for the remainder of the evening. The

Magicians would tie the game on a shot in tight about 10 minutes in tying the game at 2-2. The Falcons

were unable to gain a hold of the game the rest of the way with the pressure squarely in the Falcons

defensing third for the remainder of the night. Keeper Zachary Cotter kept the game at 2 with a couple

great saves including a break away midway thru the half. The game would end in a stalemate at 2-2 with

the Falcons earning their first point of the young season.
