Danvers 0 - St. Mary's 3

The Falcons hosted the Spartan’s of St. Mary’s in what is believed to be the first meeting between the

two schools at Morse field on Friday afternoon. The Falcons were looking to get in the win column while

the Spartans were looking to keep their record clean coming in at 2-0.

The Spartans started the game on the front foot owning the possession battle from the opening kick-off.

The first half saw the Spartans outshoot the Falcons 8 -1 while generating 7 corners. It was the set piece

that would bite the Falcons twice in the first half with the Spartans converting off corners in both the 14th

and 22nd minutes. The Falcons battled but were unable to gain an advantage with the first half ending at

2-0 in favor of the Spartans.

The second half saw much of the same with a few flashes of possession from the Falcons. The Spartans

owned possession and the 50/50 balls quickly turning Falcon’s goal kicks into long spells of possession.

As it was in the first half, it would be the set piece again that would prove to be the Falcons undoing as

the Spartans converted from the edge of the box in the 77th minute after a Falcon’s foul.

There were a few bright spots for the Falcons in the form of Zach Cotter who again made several great

stops between the pipes and the contributions off the bench from juniors Michael Rinella and Sam

Randall.
