Marblehead 3 - Danvers 1
Danvers played their best game of the season and one of their best games in recent years but came up on the short end of a 3-1 score at Marblehead. The magicians took the early lead only minutes into the game off a header from a corner kick. Danvers dominated for long stretches from that point on with terrific defending, Solid possession, and Passing. Along with great attack as a team. The Falcons evened the score in the 18th minute on a corner kick of their own. Sr. DeAnna Figueiredo served a great ball into the box which a defender attempted to clear. The ball found the foot of Sr. Capt. Ashley Freitas who calmly drilled a low shot into the back of the net to tie the game.

The game went back and forth throughout and Danvers had an edge in winning 50/50 balls and shots. Central defenders Addi McCarty and Ali Doucette were rock solid on the back line limiting any dangerous attacks from the hosts. Figueiredo and Freitas had incredible games in the middle both defensively and on the attack for the Falcons.

"We had some great chances to score throughout, but give Marblehead a lot of credit. They didn't make anything easy for us. There is a reason why they are still unbeaten."

Wingers, So. Maddie Hanas and Fr. Rylee Sullivan were a handful for Marblehead the entire evening. The young players used their speed, skill, and aggressiveness to put the hosts under constant pressure.

With 11 minutes to play Marblehead got the eventual game winner, sending a bit of a shock into the Falcons. Marblehead would put it out of reach 4 minutes later to make the final score 3-1.

"The final score does not do this game any justice. We played extremely well for all of about 6 or 7 minutes in the game. It was 2 very talented teams gutting it out for 80 minutes. We had plenty of chances and we did a lot right, but fate just was not on our side tonight. That is a very strong, experienced Marblehead team and I thought we had them. Cassidy, Maddie and Rylee all had amazing games for us. We deserved better, but that is soccer. When you miss an opportunity or two, it certainly can come back and haunt you. I think we realized tonight that we can be a very good team and I expect big things from this team this season."

Coach Hinchion also mentioned the hard work put in by Fr. Maggie Lamar, So. Kaia Glover, Jr.'s Taylor Landry and Emma Sutherland, and Sr.'s Capt. Lila Doucette, Lily Delafano, Claudia Drakos, Sabina Sturgeon, and Lila Flynn.

"The girls on the sideline were so loud and inspiring and we had a very large fan base for an away game on a Friday night. This is a tough loss and one that will stick with us for a while, but i'm so proud of the way the girls played and we will be a better team going forward because of it."
