Danvers 4 - Saugus 3
Saugus traveled to a cold and windy Dr. Deering stadium on Monday to take on the Falcons.
The Falcons, coming off of a five day layoff, took possession early putting a few early chances on frame but were unable to break the ice. Midway through the opening half Saugus took advantage of an opportunity over the top of the Danvers defense and took a 1-0 lead. The Falcons would respond quickly with Jr. Marcelo Caixeto finishing down the left side to the far post. Fr. Nate Flint quickly made in 2-1 with a shot that deflected off an defender into the back of the net. Danvers would take that 2-1 lead into halftime
The half started as the first half had, with Danvers taking possession in the offensive third. A set-piece opportunity about 5 minutes in provided Jake Ryan the perfect ball at the far post which the senior finished perfectly back to the far post making it 3-1. Danvers continued to press in the offensive third with Saugus remaining stout on defense keeping the game within distance. Saugus, taking advantage of the few chances they had again used the long ball over the top of the defense resulting in 2 quick goals tying the game at 3.
Danvers, after using a time out, again dominated possession searching for the go ahead strike. In the waning minutes that strike would come as Jake Ryan recorded his 2nd goal of the game deflecting a shot past the Saugus keeper.
