Danvers 3 - Beverly 0

The unbeaten Danvers Girls Soccer Team hosted rival Beverly Saturday afternoon at 1:00.  Danvers beat the Panthers in Beverly 1-0 2 weeks earlier.  It was the first time in 6 years the Falcons has won in Beverly.  The Danvers Team also remembered that Beverly had beaten them on their Home turf a year ago and were hoping to defend their field this time around.

Danvers dominated from the opening whistle.  The Falcon's passing and possession game looked strong and Danvers didn't wait any time getting the lead.  Junior forward Reese Pszenny fed a beautiful pass to classmate Arianna Bezanson which she deposited into the back of the Beverly net for a 1-0 lead only 3 minutes into the game.  Danvers would get several more good looks on the visitors net, but the game remained 1-0 after a quarter.  Danvers continued to press into the second quarter.  Halfway through, Bezanson got her second of the game on a through pass by senior Avery Sharffenberg to make it 2-0.  Bezanson made it 3-0 with her own hat trick when she scored with a minute remaining in the half, the assist going to senior Mia Jordan.

"Ari looked fantastic out there today and to get 3 goals in the first half was huge for us.  One thing we were very excited about was that we didn't give up a single shot the entire first half.  Our defense has been amazing all season long and they were up to the challenge again today.  Livvi Anderson in particular played terrific.  She was first to every ball and made smart decisions in the back."

Danvers continued to control the pace of the game throughout the second half.  Danvers had several great opportunities to score but their shots either just missed wide, or were gobbled up by Beverly keeper Sydney Anderson.  Senior Captain Riley DiGilio made numerous great runs up the right flank, ending with passes across the Panther goal box, but the Falcons couldn't get the goal.  However, defenders Anderson, Emma Dunn, Scharffenberg, Gabby Chisholm and Mikayla Shaffaval denied Beverly any chances in their own end.   Mids Mia Jordan and Julia Vaillancourt passed the ball extremely well and orchestrated the Falcon attack over and over again.  Attackers DiGilio and Haley Murphy created several good chances for the Home Team.  In the end, the score stayed 3-0 with the Falcons picking up their second win of the season over the Panthers.  Danvers out shot the Visitors on the game, 28-2.  Senior Keeper Holly DeAngelis only had to make 1 save en route to her team's 8th shut out of the season.

"The girls wanted this one really bad.  They played a complete game and I'm very happy for them.  Arianna was great getting those 3 first half goals.  She was flying today.  I also loved the play of Reese Pszenny today.  Her skill on the ball is incredible and she was amazing with the ball on her foot today.  She had a couple of heel passes that worked out perfectly.  When she's creative like that, it's fun to watch.  Livvi Anderson was awesome too.  She has been so steady for us in the back this year.  She really sets the tone for this team."

Danvers improved their record to 10-0 on the season, guaranteeing them their 4th straight season with the league's best record.  The Falcons finish the season at Home, Tuesday night against Peabody.
