Week of 10/21/19 - 10/27/19

Falcon Player of the Week:   Riley DiGilio, Becca Rocker and Arianna Bezanson

Riley started off the week on the right foot with a hat trick in the Marblehead game.  She was awarded the "Spotlight Player of the Game" on the bus ride home.  Her first goal was the eventual game winner in our first shutout of the week.  Riley had 2 more goals against Gloucester on Wednesday.  She finished the week assisting on Abby's goal vs. Swampscott, the eventual game winner.  All in all she had 5 goals and an assist for a big week.  Riley currently has 16 goals and 17 assists for an amazing 33 point total so far.  She has constantly been an offensive spark for us all season long.

Becca started the week off with a yellow card!  :)  Actually, she was having an amazing game before that against Marblehead.  She kept the midfield organized and assisted on Riley's game winning goal.  She played terrific in our game vs. Gloucester on Wednesday.  Becca had a goal of her own off a pass from Reese, and assisted twice on Riley and Abby's goals.  Against Swampscott, Becca did well to control the midfield and limit what Swampscott wanted to do with the ball.  Becca and Julia V. never let KK get going and that was huge for us.  Becca also assisted on one of Arianna's goals and was recognized on the bus as one of the players of the game.  In all, Becca had a goal and 4 assists this week.

Arianna went on a scoring spree this week.  She started off with a goal and 2 assists vs. Marblehead.  She set up Riley for 2 of her goals that game.  She then registered a hat trick on Wednesday vs. Gloucester.  On Friday, Swampscott had no answer for her as she put home 2 more goals and dominated both at midfield and forward.  She received the "Spotlight Player of the Game" afterwards.  With a week of 6 goals and 2 assists, Arianna is up to 20 goals (leads the Team) and 11 assists for 31 points so far.  She has come through time and time again when we needed a big goal and her work rate defensively gives other team's midfielders fits.

Nice work Riley, Becca and Arianna.  Let's carry this on into the Tournament!

Week of 10/14/19 - 10/20/19

Falcon Player of the Week:  Abbi Clickstein

Although we didn't register a win this week, we tied to very strong programs.  Defensively, our Team was tested in both games and Abbi stood out big time.  Against Beverly, she played super aggressive and played lock down defense on one of the top scorers in the league.  In addition, she was very smart about moving towards the middle of our defense to win 50 / 50 balls.  Beverly's attack is a handful and Abbi made things easier on our other defenders by helping out and winning every loose ball on the field.  Last night against Andover, Abbi set up our only goal of the game on a pass to Arianna, 9 minutes in.  Once again she defended well but it was her willingness to attack up the left side, over and over again in the second half that really helped our attack.  This season she has played that role perfectly:  Defending on the left side of the field, and moving forward when we have the ball to give us more offense.

Nice work Abbi!  Let's look to get 3 shutouts this week!

Other note worthy achievements this week...

- The Team climbed up to #11 in the Coaches All New England Rankings!

- The Team stayed at #4 in the Boston Globe Rankings!

Week of 10/7/19 - 10/13/19

Falcon Player of the Week: Abby Cash

It's been another great week for Abby.  Yes, she has put up a lot of offensive points for the Team this season, but lets also acknowledge the terrific defense she does hunting down the ball after we turn it over.  She and our forwards are the first line of defense and it's been amazing so far.  On Monday, Abby had a 5 point night picking up 2 goals and 3 assists.  On Friday, she got the all important goal only seconds before halftime.  Mikayla and Riley made the play happen and Abby was there to finish.  That goal completely turned the tide of the game and we controlled throughout the second half.  Abby assisted on all 3 goals the second half, 2 by Riley and 1 by Arianna.  Abby currently has 15 goals and 16 assists for 31 points.  I believe she is among the leaders in EA MA for total points.  However, I think it's been her unselfishness to create opportunities for everyone in our attack that has helped our team to such a strong season so far.

Congratulations Abby and  let's continue this great play on Tuesday at Beverly!

Well done Girls!  Let's keep it going!

Week of 9/30/19 - 10/6/19

Falcon Player of the Week: Livvi Anderson

Livvi played well at center back in our game vs. Saugus.  Despite the steady rain and playing on the grass field, she managed to keep the ball in front of her and the defense and limited the time Saugus spent in our end of the field.  Yes, she did score an "oops" goal late in the game after we had stopped trying to score, but she played hard and kept the defense steady throughout the game.  Last night vs. Brookline, Livvi played all 80 minutes.  She won every 50 / 50 battle on the field and was first to the ball every time.  The few times that Brookline was able to break through our back line, Livvi was there to clear things up with her speed and aggressiveness.  She also did very well heading the ball out of our defensive third and I feel Livvi has become one of the better players at balls in the air for us so far.  This was our third straight shutout over Brookline and defensively the team got the job done once again.  Livvi continues to keep the back 4 very organized and tough to beat!

Congratulations Livvi on a solid week.  Let's continue to keep that defense focused in the big games ahead!

Other note worthy achievements this week...

Well done Girls!

Week of 9/23/19 - 9/29/19

Falcon Players of the Week: Gabby Chisholm, Mia Jordan and Riley DiGilio

Gabby started off the week with a solid game defensively vs. Lynn English.  She was a big part of the back line that only surrendered 1 shot the entire game.  She took it to another level however, on Wednesday when we traveled to Salem.  Again, the defense was amazing and only gave up 2 shots total.  Her runs up the right side of the field were amazing as well and she was named the "Spotlight Player of the Game" on the bus ride home.  Last night against Winthrop she put in another strong effort with aggressive defending and eagerness to get involved in our attack.

Mia got her first point of the year with an assist on Livvi's goal vs. Lynn English.  She then had a terrific game Wednesday at Salem.  She continually found open players making runs and distributed the ball very well.  She was our #2 player of the game that night along with Arianna.  Finally, last night Mia continued to run the midfield vs. Winthrop.  Her 1 and 2 touch passing have been spot on and her creativity is amazing to watch!  Mia has been a big part of our work towards finding attacking combinations on the field.

Riley started off the week with 2 assists vs. Lynn English.  She fed Abby for her goal and combined with Mia to assist on Arianna's goal.  Against Salem, Riley made run after run up the right side of the field and had plenty of good passes across the box that we just had trouble finishing against the Witch's bunker defense.  Against Winthrop, Riley had her second 5 point game with 2 goals and 3 assists.  Her third assist was on Haley's first ever varsity goal.  Riley has been routinely cutting up defenders this year and she currently leads our team in assists with 10.

Congratulations Gabby, Mia and Riley!  Let's continue that level of play in the upcoming weeks.

Other note worthy achievements this week...

Great job Girls!

Week of 9/16/19 - 9/22/19

Falcon Player of the Week: Arianna Bezanson

Arianna started off the week with a modest goal and 2 assists against Gloucester before resting the second half.  She was a major force for our Team against Swampscott with another goal and assist in our huge win.  Aside from the scoring, Arianna broke through the Big Blue midfield time after time with her speed and dribbling skills, setting up her teammates.  Finally, Arianna scored the only goal of the game in our 1-0 win over Bishop Fenwick.  Pressing hard, she picked the pocket of a Fenwick defender and broke in on their keeper alone.  She then, dribbled around the goalkeeper and calmly put the ball in the back of their net.  Defensively she also stood out in the midfield.  In total, she finished the week with 3 goals and 3 assists and currently has 6 goals and 3 assists on the season.  Great job Arianna!

Week of 9/8/19 - 9/15/19
Falcon Player of the Week:  Abby Cash

Abby started off the season on a great note by scoring the insurance goal in the second half vs. Peabody.  It came off a direct kick, beautifully taken by Reese Pszenny which Abby proceeded to volley into the Tanner net.  Gorgeous, highlight reel type of goal!  Abby continued her terrific play vs. Beverly by constantly putting pressure on their defense and creating scoring opportunities for our team.  She assisted on our only goal of the game scored by Arianna Bezanson.  Finally, Abby capped off the week with another goal and an assist in our win over Marblehead.  She finished the week with 2 goals and 2 assists.

Congratulations and keep it up Abby!
