The Danvers Varsity Girls Soccer Team traveled to Lynn Monday night to take on the Lynn Classical Rams at Manning Field.  The Falcons came out with their extremely fast approach once again with Arianna Bezanson scoring what would be the game winner in only the second minute of the game.  The assist went to Abby Cash.  2 minutes later, Cash assisted on a nice goal by Becca Rocker.  Bezanson started the play with a fine pass to Cash.  In the 7th minute of play, Julia Ryan scored on a set up by Bezanson once again.  The score remained 3-0 for most of the first half.  Defenders Avery Scharffenberg, Mikayla Shaffaval, Emma Dunn, Livvi Anderson, Abbi Clickstein, Sam Pelletier, Sabrina Ramsay and Gabby Chisholm were terrific at keeping the Rams out of their end of the field.  Midfielders Mia Jordan, Rocker, Bezanson, Julia Vaillancourt and Emma Hatch did well to possess the ball and find open teammates.  Danvers only allowed 1 shot all half on keeper Kylie MacCormack.  Danvers added a 4th goal late in the half when Abby Cash scored on a play assisted by Bezanson and Riley DiGilio.  The half ended with Danvers up 4-0.

"Everyone contributed today.  We moved the ball well and scored some very nice goals.  Defensively we looked good as well."

Reese Pszenny scored a highlight reel type of goal 9 minutes into the second half.  Gabby chisholm was fed a pass from Julia Vaillancourt and dribbled up the right side of the field.  Chisholm then crossed a serve into the box where Pszenny headed it home for the 5th goal of the game.

"That goal was beautiful all around.  It started with Julia's through ball to Gabby who made a perfect cross into the box.  Reese has had several goals like that already this year.  Her goals tend to be awesome types of goals."

Riley DiGilio got on the scored board in the 16th minute assisted by freshman Eliana Anderson.  Danvers finished out the scoring with tallies by Cash and Vaillancourt with assists going to Haley Murphy and Cash.  Holly DeAngelis and Emma Maynard split the goaltending duties in the second half.  The final score was Danvers 8, Lynn Classical 0.  It was Danvers 9th shutout of the season and they improved their record to 11-1.

"The rain got pretty ugly in the second half, but the girls played hard the entire way.  I was pleased with the play of Mikayla Shaffaval on defense tonight.  She kept her defensive shape well and played smart.  Julia Ryan played great all over the field for us.   She played forward and scored a goal, she played defense and she played her usual midfield position.  She also took a beautiful direct kick that banged off the crossbar.  She played a solid all around game."

Danvers next hosts Peabody on Friday afternoon.
